Yesterday morning, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg visited the Finishing Trades Institute to meet SummerWorks participants who were getting trained and certified to operate aerial lifts.

As the training arm of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), the Finishing Trades Institute is giving these SummerWorks youth hands-on and classroom training in skilled trades like painting, drywall, glazing, and others.
This SummerWorks partnership is the first pre-apprenticeship program the Finishing Trades Institute has offered. Over the course of the six-weeks, the young adults will earn multiple professional certifications along with their paycheck.
